DIY: Fun and Corky

/ Monday, December 5, 2011 /

With the holiday season in full swing you're all probably left with a collection of corks from empty wine bottles. But while the scene may look unsightly for most, we, as DIY aficionados, see every woman’s trash as an organizational treasure.  So, gather up the corks and bring out the picture frames, ladies—we’re about to make ourselves a corky jewelry board!

Here’s the plan

1.    Find an old picture frame with its backing still intact—the prettier the frame, the more beautiful the product!

2.    Collect enough corks (from empty wine bottles) to cover the entire surface of the frame’s backing.

3.    Using a hot glue gun, stick the corks onto the cardboard—you can place the corks in different directions to give it an artsy, 3-dimensional feel.

4.    Give your chains something to hang from by inserting a few hooks/pins into the corks.

You’re Done! Pretty nifty, huh? You can poke your earrings into the corks or insert rings in between gaps. It’s a super functional piece that won’t discriminate against jewelry! Er, well, except for bracelets of course…but that’s what the wine bottles are for, right?
